Hello Everyone,
I want to share some photos with you that I took yesterday at Kingwood Center, which is a 47-acre public estate/gardens in Mansfield, Ohio. This was my third time visiting. I was there in the fall, and posted about it, which you can find HERE, and then again at Christmastime HERE. Each season is spectacular! Kingwood Center was once a private residence, built in 1926 by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelley King. Mr. and Mrs. King, who never had children, left their estate to a private foundation, and it was opened to the public in 1953. Mr. King made his fortune working with the Ohio Brass Company.

Beautiful photos, Cindy. This brings back memories for me. I grew up just south of Marion, Ohio, and I can remember going to these gardens a couple of times when I was a kid. I haven't thought about that in a long time. They are still as lovely as ever. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have never been there and hubs just said he's interested in driving there and seeing it soon.
ReplyDeleteBefore it gets too hot for me, hate the heat.

ReplyDeleteSpectacular! It is lovely seeing gardens planted en masse like that. It does rather put the one tulip in our garden to shame. Yes, I did say one!

I just love Kingwood Center. Haven't been there for more than a few years now, but I have fond memories of my visits there. My aunt used to live just down the street from it and I remember as a child sneaking in a side entrance with my brother and running around smelling and enjoying all the beautiful tulips. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you shared these beautiful photos of the estate. The gardens are just wonderful and so are your photos. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I have never heard of this estate but I'm so glad you shared with us. We had huge brass center here in Waterbury, CT long ago also--as a matter of fact the city's name is The Brass City, and there were apparently some huge fortunes made. This estate is magnificent. I looked back at your other posts on it too. The "marble" banister was very clever! And I see they do weddings also--can you imagine one on these grounds? It would be wonderful. So glad you shared this with us. I am putting this on the list of places to see when hubby and I take our trip across the country someday in the distant future. Linda
