Awards and Hugs

Hello Everyone,

My friend, Barb, of Grandma Barb's This and That surprised me with 3 awards last week! Barb posts lovely photos of old barns and lighthouses and other interesting places she visits. Her other interests include gardening, decorating, visiting thrift stores and art. To visit Barb's blog, click HERE. The first award is called the Sunshine Award. In order to accept it, I must answer a few questions about myself. So here goes!

Favorite color: Green
Favorite animal:  Cats
Favorite number: 7
Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Tea (of course!)
Prefer Facebook or Twitter?  Facebook. I have a Twitter account, but don't tweet much.
My passion:  Nature
Prefer getting or giving presents: I must be honest and say - both!
Favorite pattern: Polka dots...I love round shapes.
Favorite day of the week:  Sunday
Favorite flower:  Tulips (very hard to choose, though - I love all flowers!)

The second award from Barb is the Genuine Blogger Award. There are no stipulations attached to this award and I am proud to accept it.

The third award is this HUG AWARD, which you can read about HERE.  Who doesn't love hugs? We never know what a person might be going through...and hugs (like smiles) have the power to change lives. So...I dedicate and pass along this virtual HUG to all who read this post!!

Versatile Blogger Award!

Hello Everyone,

I was graciously awarded The Versatile Blogger Award by not one - but two awesome bloggers! First, by Janice of Bluebell Woods.  Janice is a new Mum at age 65! Yes, that's correct, as she's recently become the guardian to her great-grandson, Tristen. I know she won't mind that I just told her age - as she has it posted on her blog! :) Janice and I first met on a social networking site for Baby Boomers called "Eons." So, although we've never met in person, we've known each other quite a while "virtually." We're both relatively new at blogging and I invite all my followers to visit her beautiful blog, Bluebell Woods by clicking HERE. Second, I was also awarded the Versatile Blogger Award by Tracey of "Breathing English Air."  Both of these women are from England. Now, I think this is a very good sign for me - Anglophile that I am - that I will, indeed, one day visit England (a dream of mine for many, many years!) Seven Random Things About Me:
1. I've watched the 1998 movie, "Elizabeth" with Cate Blanchett over 20 times (see above info about being an Anglophile!)
2. I'm the youngest of four sisters.
3. I've lived in Ohio, California, West Virginia and Texas.
4. I'm 57 years old - for approximately another month!
5. When I was little, I wanted to fly like a bird and would practice by jumping off our front porch, flapping my arms like crazy. Thankfully, I never broke any bones in the process.
6. I've watched the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" since I was a teenager.
7. I don't have children of my own, but have 12 nieces and nephews, and I'm "great-auntie" many times over. I love being an aunt.

I've Been Tagged!

My blogging friend, Myric of Petites Passions recently tagged me in a blog post. This is a fun way for fellow bloggers, and new followers, to get to know one another. I'm such a fan of Myric's - her blog is beautiful and she's a very creative and sweet person. If you're not already a follower of her blog, I encourage you to give her a visit! But...back to the tag. I am first suppose to list eleven fun facts about myself...then answer the questions Myric created for me. Okay...here goes:

Eleven Fun Facts About Me

1. I was born in Amarillo, Texas

2. I was named for both of my grandmothers. Cynthia was my Dad's mother's name and my middle name, Fern, was my Mom's mother's name.

3. I used to work at a television station (PBS) as a production assistant.

4. I HATE garlic!

5. I cannot sing. Really. I can't carry a tune at all.

6. I can follow a recipe, but cooking is not something I really enjoy doing.

7. My favorite flowers are tulips and pink roses.

8. I've traveled cross-country twice on the Amtrak train. A very slow, but scenic way to travel!

9. I love trees and I love to hug them.

10. I've never been hospitalized (except when I was born.)

11. I love making lists!!

Now, here are the questions Myric asked me:

1. Where is your ideal retiring place?  Someplace near the ocean
2.  Which food you do not see yourself eating? Garlic (see above!)
3. If you have an opportunity to ask one question to your favorite celebrity, who and what question will it be?   I honestly can't think of an answer to this! 
4. What do you think is the most romantic food? Champagne and strawberries dipped in chocolate.
5. Who's blog do you visit the most? Cindy Adkins' Whimsical Musings and Mr.Puddy
6. If you are to award one blogger who and what would it be? This is tough to pick one, but Mr.Puddy would get a SMILE AWARD for always making me laugh (cat fans will love his blog!!)
7. What are you passionate of the most?  Animals/and animal rights
8. What other foreign language do you wish you could speak? Italian (first) and French (close second)
9. Which era in the history would you like to go back for a visit and why? The 1950s so I could see my parents again when they were young and healthy.
10. Were you a member of a club in high-school? If yes, what was it? No, I wasn't...I did write for the school newspaper though.
11. Do you prefer Savory or Sweet dish? Sweet...I love sweets (unfortunately my waistline doesn't!)
