It may seem surprising to some (it is, even to me!) that a lifelong tea drinker, such as myself, didn't collect teacups ~ (note my use of the past tense!) ~ but I'm a relatively new collector. I always enjoyed looking at them, but now I find myself becoming enamored with them, espeically the antique and vintage ones. This is one of my latest finds ~ a delicate pink, green and gold demitasse cup & saucer. It's marked on the bottom " Made in France expressly for the Bailey, Banks & Biddle Co. Philadelphia, Pa."
I've been doing a little research, and although "demitasse" is French for "half-cup" and was originally used to serve Arabic coffee or expresso ~ it's my understanding that they were also used for tea. Perhaps some of the other bloggers who regularly post about tea and teacups can help me out with this. It's a beautiful cup, no matter, and although the saucer looks almost lavender in the photos, it's actually a very soft pink.

Until next time, anyone for a cuppa?

What a nice find! I really like the detail at the top of the cup.
I actually like little "half-cups" or expresso cups. I have a few in my collection, but I am afraid they are not very vintage. They sometimes sell them at a local discount store here in town, and when I find a unique set (usually, they are in a set of four or six), I buy it.
I'm a tea drinker too and don't have too many tea cups either. I think that is mainly because the cups are so small! They are small but oh so beautiful, love yours. Laura Cottage and Broome

Hi Cindy, Happy PINK Saturday! I love this little cup, the design is gorgeous. TFS, Nan
Happy Pink Saturday Cindy Sweetie... What a treasure you have found. I love the half cup tea cups best of all. Sometimes in my busy day, that is about all I have time for, and by evening that is all the caffeine I should have.
The color and pattern are absolutely exquisite. So dainty. Thank you for sharing this beautiful find. She's a beauty. Country hugs and much love, Sherry
Such a gorgeous cup and saucer! Love it.
It is a lovely and delicate piece of china. I really love it. One year I started out collecting a few of them myself. Over that year I had an excessive amount. So that Christmas I made each of them into homemade candles for gift giving. I simply glued the saucer to the cup and turned the cup into a candle. Very easy and everyone loved them.
So beautiful!
Pink hat, have a great weekend!
Gorgeous, and a perfection bombination of pink and aqua too!

The detail on this demitasse is beautiful. I picked up a complete set this year myself only in gold. I wished I had found one like yours. Have a wonderful Pink Saturday.
